Fun Fact: I am on a bar trivia team and we recently placed 4th in a regional tournament and qualified for the national championship.

Favorite Hobby: I enjoy baking, book club, paddle boarding on the river behind my home, and I am learning to play the piano.

Vet school: University of Minnesota class of 2007

Funny client experience: I was at a practice that kept jars of peanut butter for fear free handling. We used tongue depressors to repeatedly dip into the jar (or let dogs lick directly from the jar).  In an effort to help us get his dog to eat the peanut butter, an owner grabbed the tongue depressor full of peanut butter  from us and licked it himself, telling his dog "See! Look, daddy likes peanut butter. Yummy!" He then proceeded to share the peanut butter with his dog.

Advice for new grads: Prepare yourself for situations where owners are not able or willing to do the first class workup and treatment, develop alternative plans to approach the problem and be realistic when setting expectations with owners. Practice humility and realize that mistakes will happen to all of us (small or big). Be prepared to own them, forgive yourself and learn from them. Have a passion outside of work and practice it regularly. Finally- learn to laugh with your colleagues, it is the best medicine after all.
